Recirculating Aquaculture System for Shrimp Production

Shrimp, especially the "White Tiger" shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei are among the most promising species for closed Recirculating Aquaculture System farming in Europe. Shrimps are a worldwide sought-after food, also in Europe. Since the water temperatures in Europe do not meet the requirements of the most popular shrimp species, they are imported from Asia and South America in frozen condition. Thus, the long delivery routes are only one reason to grow shrimp in Europe. Anyone who has ever eaten fresh shrimp will confirm that the quality and taste of fresh or frozen shrimp is far superior to that of imported shrimp.
White Tiger Shrimp, also known as Shrimp, are particularly suitable for aquaculture in closed Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. They have a short generation cycle, which allows production to be evenly distributed throughout the year. Furthermore, the animals spawn almost daily, so that the system can be stocked frequently, making it relatively small compared to annual production. The reproduction of the animals is laborious, but standardized, so that the hatchery (also called hatchery) of shrimp in Europe is possible.

Recirculating Aquaculture Systems for Shrimp Grow Out

Systems for shrimp farming have, of course, initially the same requirements and quality criteria as Recirculating Aquaculture Systems for other fish species. Read more about the features and advantages of WATER - proved Recirculating Aquaculture Systems here. A special feature of shrimp is the short production cycle, in which the animals are also transferred several times. This places special demands on the system. On the one hand, the tanks must be designed in such a way that a permanently high capacity utilization is ensured. A high utilization rate in a Recirculating Aquaculture System ensures high stability in the biological processes as well as optimum utilization of the capital employed. Furthermore, the fast turnover requires a tank design that allows fast and efficient fishing and stocking and makes handling easy for the personnel and gentle for the animals.
Our sophisticated tank design allows easy and fast handling as well as an excellent utilization of space through optimized stocking management and good stocking densities.

Efficient water use

Especially for systems that are built inland, saving water is a particularly important issue. Naturally, no saltwater is available to supply the system, and likewise saltwater cannot be discharged into a receiving watercourse. Salting and desalting is a high cost factor and every liter of water saved reduces the effort and thus the production costs. Innovative filter systems from WATER - proved such as nitrification and denitrification make low water exchange rates possible.
Of course, we also offer systems for mixing saltwater as well as for wastewater treatment

Hatcheries for the reproduction of shrimp

The reproduction of shrimp is successfully practiced worldwide and should not be missing in any larger shrimp project. The animals' own reproduction enables a high stocking frequency. High stocking frequency, in turn, reduces the footprint of the grow-out facility and produces a consistent abundance of fish.

WATER - proved designs and builds all the aquaculture equipment needed for successful operation, from algae and live feed production to postlarvae fishing. Here, too, well thought-out handling concepts make work efficient and pleasant.
